I N  ORBIT

Throughout the last seasons, Ropa de Genero's collections have literally traveled around the sky and the earth. In 2015, the Piwke proposal showed aspects of the Mapuche culture, strongly linked to the earth. On the other hand, Trappist 1, in 2017, was more closely linked with the universe. In fact, the collection gets its name after having discovered a new solar system earlier this year with seven Earth-like planets. One of the most relevant aspects of this proposal is the play of light and shadow that comes from these planets which revolve around the sun and leave one side of these celestial bodies in the dark.

For the spring summer collection, In Orbit mixes the proposals named above. The designer María Eugenia Ibarra aims at merging the concepts of light and darkness which she has been previously working on - linked to the cosmic, the circular and the universe from the light and
shadow, with the aim of mixing them again with the earthly.

In her own words, María Eugenia explains: & quot; for this new stage I want to rescue the idea of life in another place as an extension, since I will take several of the winter garments and transform them into their light and sun version, always including textures and fabrics. That is to say, my goal is to return to the “Pachamama”, to return to the earth, to take the sunlight and be fed by it & quot;.

In this sense, In Orbit starts from the earthly and settles with firm feet, while the body greets the sun, takes its rays and raises the scapular area to wrap itself around. It is a way to expand the brightness, light and reflection of nature through color, textures and circular morphology.

In this context, for this new stage the creator refers to a text by the Japanese artist Yoko Ono: "Each planet has its own orbit. Think of people close to you as planets. Sometimes it's nice just to watch them orbit and shine." Another important aspect in this new proposal is related to the shoulder girdle and its importance in anatomy and movement. It is a weak link that is also called the shoulder skeleton that is placed between the base of the neck and the pectoralis major muscle and which is formed by two bones: scapula and clavicle.

This aspect of circularity has been previously seen in Piwke, where the image of the kultrun is again marked on the shoulder girdle across the cardinal points.

Without the shadow of a doubt, this is a proposal that takes as back to the earth through the rays of the sun and the use of noble materials such as merino wool, alpaca, silk and cotton, raw materials that involve movement in orbit -through the shoulder girdle- of each planet revolving around its own sun.

IN  O RBITA

In recent seasons, the collections of Gender Clothing have literally traveled to heaven and earth. En instead, Trappist 1, in 2017, was linked rather with the universe. Este aspecto circular has already been seen previously in Piwke, where the image of kultrún is marked d e nuevo en la cintura escapular a través de los puntos cardinales. Sin duda se trata de una propuesta que returns us to the earth a through the rays of the sun and the use of noble materials, such as wool merino cc0-194194 bb3b-136bad5cf58d_alpaca, silk and cotton, a raw material that involves the movement in orbit –a through the circular scapula- of each planet_cc78195-bb-3b-3195-debb-31905 -136bad5cf58d_rotating around its sun.
