CREATIVE INCUBATOR OF THE RURAL FABRIC

Project that begins in  2020, aims to promote the identity of fabrics from the O'Higgins region through workshops and design and creation meetings with 3 communities of weavers from the districts of Christmas, La Estrella and Chépica.

The initiative arises from the point of view of Eugenia Ibarra and Rocío Schatzke, that design can dialogue with craftsmanship, and intervene in a respectful and virtuous manner in the production chain of fabrics created by artisan women, in order to create textiles that speak of a territory, an identity. Both are convinced that the knowledge and techniques of weaving that each artisan carries, added to the creative capacity of each one, can contribute to manifesting the identity of each territory with beauty, being the environment, the personal and common histories, the source of inspiration for artisanal and manual creation.

The environment and nature are and have been sources of inspiration since time immemorial. We wanted to work on this connection, and work on it collectively, in order to make the story behind each textile, the identity and history of its creators, even more visible, to build a country story, of our territory.
